Banana vermicelli Trifle

Fruits and vermicelli trifle? I was amazed too until I tried this recipe and it was a hit! It is very delicious and irresistible! A layer of sweet vermicelli with fruits, custard and a layer of cream with again vermicelli on top....yummy isn't?

So it is not limited to Bananas. You can use mix fruits too. Especially berries will be great to go.

Image notes: raspberry and vermicelli trifle! Yum!

I have not tried any berries yet! But I assure it will taste super delicious!!! Slurp!

You will need, Ingredients:

For Vermicelli:

• 200g fine vermicelli (broken)
• 3 tbsp oil
• 1 cup sugar

For the custard:

• 200ml milk
• 1 tbsp custard powder
• 3 tbsp sugar

For the cream:

• 1 cup whipping cream
• 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

For the filling:

• 2 cup any fruits (I am using banana)
• Few Dry fruits

Step 1:

Heat a non stick pan, add oil and vermicelli. Don't add water, sauté vermicelli for 5-6 mins. Add sugar and add less than half cup of water.

Cook for a while and cover with a lid. Use your judgement and turn the heat off. Once it's done, don't cover with a lid, keep it open so that it doesn't stick with each other. Let it cool.

Step 2:

Heat a sauce pan with milk in it. Add sugar in milk. In a small bowl, add custard powder and mix with 1 tsp of water. Stir well and add custard mixture in milk. Stir till milk thickens. Allow it to cool completely.

Step 3:

Whip cream till soft peaks appear with a beater. I used sweet whipping cream. So I didn't added sugar in my cream. If your whipping cream is not having sugar in it then add 3 tbsp or more of icing sugar for sweetness.

Step 4:

In a large glass bowl, make a thin layer of vermicelli. Make sure vermicelli are not sticking with each other. Use very little water in case if they are sticking with each other.

Then add a layer of fruits. Spread them well. Top custard layer on fruits. Then add a layer of whipped cream over custard layer. Again sprinkle vermicelli by covering the whole trifle.

Decorate with fruits and dry fruits on top as desired. It's done!! Cover with an intact plastic and refrigerate. Don't pop in your freezer. Yes of course, if you are running short of time then you can, but not more than 1 hour in the freezer. Make 3 to 4 hours before serving. It tastes best when it's chilled.

Enjoy!
